Snooker fans have a rare chance this month to see two legends of the sport play live when Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor appear at Hamilton Town House.

The pair will recreate their unforgettable 1985 World Championship Final that saw Taylor defeat Davis 18–17 after coming back from a 8–0 deficit.

It was one of the most-watched and celebrated matches in snooker history, captivating a record-breaking 18.5million TV viewers. The players battled relentlessly back and forth, taking it past midnight, until Taylor won in the most dramatic fashion possible, on the final black ball.

This special event will take place at The Town House at 7.30 pm on Wednesday, 29 October, as part of the nationwide Black Ball 40th Anniversary Tour.

As well as the top-quality snooker, the entertaining characters of the two players and the chance to see two of the sports superstars, as an added attraction it will be hosted and refereed by popular snooker commentator John Virgo, famed for his quick wit and snooker impressions and his time on the hit TV show, Big Break.

As if that wasn’t enough, the evening will also feature story-telling and an audience Q&A, giving fans the chance to put their questions to the legends.

Dennis Taylor said: “The 1985 final is part of snooker history and recreating it for fans in Hamilton 40 years later will be something very special for all of us.”

The show is open to audiences aged 14 and above, with tickets priced at £35 for a standard ticket. A limited number of VIP meet-and-greet tickets are also available, costing £75 (check with the box office for availability when booking your seat).

Tickets are selling fast and can be purchased by contacting The Town House, Hamilton, on 01698 452299, via the online box office or at any cultural venue in South Lanarkshire.
